WHAT TO KNOW

Before Sugaring Care

  • Exfoliation is totally important, but please refrain from exfoliation 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Avoid lotions and oils the day of your appointment so the sugar can adhere to the hair.
  • Caffeine can cause extra skin sensitivity and we don’t want that.</li?
  • Hair needs 8-12 days worth of growth from the last time you shaved or about the length of your bottom lashes. The longer the hair, the better results.
  • Avoid trimming. It’s our job, let us do it for you, please!
  • Avoid spray tanning before sugaring. It’ll be removed and you’ll have to get it done again.

After Sugaring Care

  • 24-48 hour DONT’S – No hot showers, baths, hot tubs, pools, lakes, sweat, sweaty workouts, sun exposure, scrubs, active/unapproved products.
  • Underwear/Under garments – Spandex or synthetic fabrics can cause a reaction on many skins, creating redness, itching, sores or ingrowns. Choose organic cotton, bamboo, hemp or other natural choices for undergarments or in high- friction areas to avoid side effects.
  • Be gentle the first 24-48 hours – You will treat your skin differently, it needs protection and rest. The skin is considered irritated, until the tender feeling subsides.
  • Protecting the skin – Sugared areas need protection for 24-48hrs. You may see redness similar to a light sunburn, red speckling where the hair root was removed, and sometimes hives.
  • The skin feels more tender than usual to the touch. If you have been sugared for a long time or have remarkable skin recovery time, it may only take 6-12 hours.
  • Always avoid fragrance/parfum, scented lotions, heavy essential oils and perfumes. They can cause ingrowns if used at any time. Ask your professional if in doubt about a product you are using.
  • Shower – not immediately, wait at least 6-12 hours. If you get sweaty, rinse immediately with cool water no soap, use approved soaps only. After 12-24 hours, take a lukewarm shower.
  • Avoid hot showers/baths, any soap with fragrance/parfum, harsh soap, and scrubs. These can all cause side effects like hives, redness, pustules, breakouts & ingrowns. Do not over stimulate the skin and let it recover.
  • Exfoliate 48-72 hours after hair removal to prevent the buildup of dead skin cells, which can cause ingrowns. We recommend using a Sugar Scrub.

FAQ

Does sugaring hurt?

Let’s be real. We’re removing hair at the root. It’s going to hurt, but it will hurt a whole lot less than traditional waxing. Since the sugar paste only adheres to dead skin cells and the hair the process is less painful than waxing! The paste is applied in the opposite direction of hair growth and removed in the direction of hair grown. Because of this most people think the application is the most uncomfortable portion of the removal process. No matter what I promise you’ll leave with your soul and vulva intact.

How long should my hair be?

Only 8-12 days worth of growth or about the length of your bottom lashes. The longer the hair, the better the results.

How often do I need to come back for service?

Most people choose to come in every 3-7 weeks with 3-4 weeks being the sweet spot of not too long that you feel a tug during the application and not too short that the sugar has trouble adhering to the hair.

Can I be sugared during my menstrual cycle?

If you’re comfortable we’re comfortable! No need to skip your appointment because it’s that time of the month.

Is sugaring safe during pregnancy?

It sure is! Many current clients got their start with TSK while pregnant.

Can I sugar myself at home?

Yes! We’ve got a class for that. If you prefer to learn hands on with a one-on-one class we’ll come to you and work with you to build your sugaring confidence.

Classes are just $65 per person.

Want to get the class for FREE? Host a party! Some of us learn better in groups! Get a group of 3 or more friends together for a fun night of learning and hair removal. We’ll bring the sugar and knowledge, you show up for a fun time. Any sugar purchased at parties will be discounted.

I kindly ask that you please reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before the beginning of your appointment or you WILL be charged a cancellation fee of 100% the cost your service.

Same day cancellations done more than twice will require Pre-Payment for your next service.

Any and all packages and gift cards expire 6 months from the purchase date.
